Ember ("the App") is an offline e-book reader. Your privacy is fundamental to how the App is built.

Data Collection

Ember does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. All data stays on your device:

• Your books — EPUB files you open remain on your device. The App never uploads or shares your library.
• Reading progress — page position, bookmarks, highlights, font preferences, and reading speed are saved locally in the App's private storage.
• Dictionary lookups — all word definitions are fetched from a public dictionary API. The queried word is sent over the network to retrieve the definition.

Network Requests

The App makes network requests only for the following purposes:

• Dictionary definitions — when you look up a word, the word is sent to a public dictionary API to fetch its meaning. No user-identifying information is included.

Third-Party Services

Ember uses Google Fonts to load typefaces for reading. Google Fonts may collect usage data as described in their Privacy Policy.

Data Storage & Security

All reading data (books, progress, bookmarks, highlights, settings) is stored exclusively on your device using standard local storage. The App does not create accounts, require sign-in, or sync data to any cloud service.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.

This policy may be updated occasionally. Changes will be reflected with an updated date at the top of this page.
